Loved by families everywhere

Built from a personal need.

We're Nick & David, the founders of Donna. We built Donna because we know firsthand how hard it is to make sure nothing slips through the cracks when you're helping take care of an aging loved one. Primary caregivers have so much on their plates — booking and driving their loved one to appointments, managing their paperwork and finances, decluttering their houses — all while trying to keep up their core relationship with their loved one. Not a relationship as a chauffeur or accountant or maid or all of the above. But as a child, a spouse, or other family member or dear friend.

With all those big responsibilities, we've seen how smaller things get missed. Maybe the plants don't get watered, maybe a favorite sports team's game doesn't get watched, maybe the doors don't get locked at night. We built Donna to help. Donna can never replace your efforts as a caregiver, and Donna can certainly never replace your core relationship. But for many families already, Donna serves as a helpful assistant that gives your loved one an extra layer of support and care.

Nick's grandpa is an avid Detroit Tigers baseball fan. They play 162 games per year, and if anyone has time to watch them all, it's him. However, game times vary by day and he often used to miss them. But Donna never misses them. Now he gets a call 10 minutes before every Tigers game starts — so he hasn't missed a pitch since.

Frequently asked questions

Donna is an AI assistant that calls your elderly loved ones as often as you choose. She has warm, natural conversations, delivers reminders, and sends you a summary after every call — so you always know your parent is okay.

Not at all. Donna uses advanced voice AI that sounds natural and warm. She listens, responds thoughtfully, remembers past conversations, and gets more familiar over time. Most people find her easy and enjoyable to talk to.

If your parent doesn’t pick up, Donna will notify you in the app that the call was missed. You can redial them on Donna’s behalf, and they are also able to call Donna directly. If you don’t want notifications for missed calls, you can disable them in the ‘Settings’ tab under ‘Preferences’.

Yes, absolutely. There are no contracts or commitments. You can cancel anytime directly from the app.

Calls typically last 1 to 15 minutes. Donna checks in on how they’re feeling, chats about their interests and daily life, delivers any reminders you’ve set, and wraps up warmly. Afterwards, a summary appears in your app. Some seniors just like to get quick reminders and/or answer Donna so that their family knows they’re doing alright – others love to chat for hours a week and find it far more fun than watching TV or just sitting around. There’s no right way to use Donna!

Within minutes of completing setup. You enter your loved one's name, phone number, interests, and preferred call time — and Donna starts calling on the schedule you choose.

Absolutely. All personal information is encrypted and never shared with third parties. You can review our full privacy policy at the bottom of this page.

Certainly! How would you feel if someone called unannounced and was trying to remind you what to do today 😉.

Every family likes to use Donna slightly differently. Some really focus on using it as a tool to give reminders and keep their parent on top of important things. Some treat it like getting a ‘Siri’ or ‘Alexa’ their parent can call whenever they like to learn things on the internet. Some seniors like it for companionship. Some seniors enjoy it as entertainment and brain exercise, having fun conversations with an advanced technology made approachable. Some families just want their parent to answer Donna’s call daily to quickly check in and confirm they’re alright. And many early testers have found other exciting ways to get value out of Donna we’d never even conceived of.

The only right way to use Donna is however it best serves you and your loved one.

If your parent can answer a phone call, then no! We intentionally designed Donna this way because we want seniors – those great with technology, those who are curious about technology, and those who don’t even know what an ‘app’ is – to all be able to enjoy Donna.

And Donna is simple for you, too – you can manage signup, call times, reminders, etc. all from our mobile app.

Medical alert systems react to emergencies. Donna’s purpose is to proactively improve your loved one’s daily life. Medical alert systems solve for things like falls and chest pains. Donna solves for things like forgetfulness, loneliness, boredom, and unanswered curiosities. Both serve distinct, important roles in the caregiving process.
